Our private 2-day Sapa Scooter & Hiking Adventure is created for travelers who want to experience this authentic side of northern Vietnam. Combining scenic scooter rides with immersive village walks and an overnight stay with a local family, the journey takes you deep into the landscapes of the Hmong and Red Dao communities, far beyond the typical tourist route.
Day 1 – O Quy Ho Pass, Ban Khoang, Ta Giang Phinh & Ta Phin
Your adventure begins with a safety briefing at your hotel before setting off by scooter into the spectacular Hoang Lien Son mountains. The first stage follows the legendary O Quy Ho Pass, one of northern Vietnam’s most impressive mountain roads, with winding bends, dramatic peaks and panoramic views towards Fansipan. Leaving the main road behind, we continue into quieter mountain valleys surrounded by forests and waterfalls before reaching Ban Khoang, a traditional Red Dao village. Here, you can walk through the community, visit a local family and discover how generations of villagers have lived from the land.
We then ride deeper into Ta Giang Phinh, a peaceful valley inhabited by the Black Hmong, where streams flow between enormous rice terraces and small villages scattered across the mountainsides. After enjoying a traditional local lunch, our journey continues through Ma Tra before arriving in Ta Phin. Tonight, you stay with a Red Dao family, enjoying a genuine homestay experience and the warm hospitality of the local community.
Day 2 – Ta Phin Hiking, Ma Tra & Suoi Ho Valley
After breakfast, the second day slows the pace and takes you onto the mountain trails. Leaving the scooter behind, you begin a scenic hike through Ta Phin and Ma Tra, following quiet paths between rice terraces, vegetable gardens, traditional houses and forested hillsides. This is a side of Sapa that cannot be experienced from a vehicle.
Along the way, your local guide introduces you to the communities, traditions and everyday life of the Hmong and Red Dao people. After lunch, continue towards Suoi Ho Valley, walking through peaceful countryside surrounded by terraced fields, pine trees and gardens growing local vegetables, fruits and artichokes. The changing landscape, fresh mountain air and distant views create a beautiful final chapter to the journey.
You return to Sapa around 3:00 PM, carrying with you not only photographs of the mountains, but memories of the people and places you encountered along the way.
